Community Picnic
in Edgewood Park
Gather with friends, lounge in the park, play some games and soak up the Summer!
Join us in Edgewood Park on Friday, August 15th from 2pm to 7pm for a gathering dedicated to connecting, relaxing and playing in the park with friends and family.
Prep for a proper picnic y’all!
Starting at 2pm, we’ll be spreading out blankets, setting up chairs and putting out a spread at the corner of West Rock and Whalley Ave. near the gazebo. From then on we’ll be practicing relaxing, having delightful conversations, playing and enjoying some summer fun! Come join us!
What we’ll provide:
- Tables, a canopy, a few picnic blankets, and some lawn chairs.
- Lots of refreshing snacks, drinks and ice cold popsicles. First come, first serve until they run out.
- A variety of games including:
- Card and board games such as Uno, Skyjo, Cribbage, Spades, Rumicube, Blokus, etc…
- A variety of yard games including bocce ball, Kubb, cornhole, and crispy wickets.
- Some sports equipment such as a frisbee, soccer ball, and pickle ball stuff.
- A self-guided creativity and art supply station with a variety of supplies.
- A puzzle station with a variety of puzzles of different sizes.
What to bring with you:
Something to share
Bring your favorite picnic food, summer beverages, a craft or a game to share with others.
Your loved ones
This is an event for our extended community and family. Bring your besties, kids, partner, grandma, etc…
Relaxation supplies
Bring a blanket, your favorite lawn chair, umbrella – whatever you need to relax and lounge in the park. We’ll have some extra lawn chairs, a canopy and some tables.
We’re hoping for good weather and tasty watermelon
Hopefully Friday, August 15th will be a beautiful summer day! But, if it’s raining or the weather is severe (like too hot) we’ll unfortunately be cancelling and we currently don’t have a rain date planned. We’ll be keeping an eye on the weather and let you know as we get closer to the picnic.
Fabric will be returning to Whitneyville Cultural Commons on Thursday, September 18th for another consciously co-created community gathering full of workshops, care offerings and creative activities.
Our September Fabric will be featuring Spanish-speaking facilitators and community builders here in New Haven!
